WHAT IS SELF-DIRECTED HELP?

Self-directed help is where you learn about your drug or alcohol use or try to achieve your goals by using worksheets, tools, advice or info without actually making contact with a support worker or service. This can include automated or interactive tools on the web, as well as booklets, videos and other resources. A lot of people start accessing support in this way.

WHAT HAPPENS?

Self-directed help is good for:

  • Getting Information about drugs and related topics
  • Learning about strategies for controlling or reducing drug or alcohol use
  • Relapse prevention plans
  • Harm reduction tips and advice
  • Setting personal goals

WHO IS IT BEST FOR?

Self-directed help options are best suited if you:

  • Are worried your drug use is getting out of control
  • Have a fairly stable place to live
  • You do not want face-to-face support
