E-Support

Different e-services offer a range of options and ways of communicating so you can choose the option that is best for you

WHAT IS E-SUPPORT?

E-support means support you get that does not involve face to face contact with a worker. Telephone and online counselling, including live chat and email are all examples of e-support. Even though technology is used to deliver support, e-support still involves interaction with a real worker.

WHAT HAPPENS?

E-support is great for counselling and support around different issues such as:

  • emotional health issues
  • drug and alcohol concerns.

E-support is also a great way to access:

  • information and advice
  • referrals to services

WHAT COULD I EXPECT?

Different e-services offer a range of options and ways of communicating so you can choose the option that is best for you. E-services can be popular so at times you can wait while a counsellor is free to respond to you.

Most e-support services are clear that without seeing you face to face there is a limit to how much they can help you.

WHO IS IT BEST FOR?

E-support is best if you:

  • want help with a specific issue such as drug or alcohol support
  • don’t want to see someone face to face
  • there is no immediate risk with your drug or alcohol use
  • your basic needs, including a stable living arrangement, are met

Centre-based counselling offers support in a comfortable place away from your usual environment
