YSAS has launched the Centre for YouthAOD practice Development.

The centre creates a space for services and practitioners to collaborate with researchers, educators and policy makers to develop the next generation of initiatives that can best enable young people and families to overcome drug and alcohol problems.

The centre intends to collaborate with a diverse range of academics and research centres although the centre’s primary research partner of the centre is the Centre for Social and Early Emotional Development (SEED), located within the School of Psychology at Deakin University.

Through collaborating with  Primary Practice Partners - YoDAA in Victoria and Dovetail in Queensland the centre will have a direct relationships with over 50 youth AOD service providers who will work with the centre to ensure all interventions and projects the centre develops are relevant and applicable in real world practice settings. In this way practitioners can set the research agenda and will have a real stake in implementing the findings for the benefit of young people and families.
