LSD

What is LSD?

LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is a hallucinogen, commonly known as acid. A young person who has taken LSD might experience hallucinations there has been research into the therapeutic value in treating mental ill health with LSD.

There are a number of factors that impact how a young person might experience a drug. Such as their location, gender, size, mood and if other drugs, alcohol or if medication has been taken.

UNDERSTANDING:

Understanding why a young person might use LSD can help guide future conversations with them. Some young people might use LSD for fun, for its visual effects, to feel connected with their surroundings, to be creative or amplify their experience in social settings.

While young people may use for many reasons, sometimes drugs can have unintended side effects, there are times when a young person might use more GHB than intended.

  • Stay calm and approach the young person quietly
  • Support them to move to a safe place where they are comfortable
  • Avoid overly stimulating environments
  • Reassure them that you are there to support them
  • Remind them that the effects will wear off
