Outreach

Outreach

Outreach offers support by coming to you.

WHAT IS OUTREACH?

Outreach is a responsive, flexible way to support young people. Support is delivered where young people live, hangout and feel comfortable.

WHAT HAPPENS?

There are heaps of ways you can get help with an outreach worker. Outreach workers can help with:

  • Assessing your needs and planning support with you
  • Referrals and linkages
  • Family support
  • Info and education
  • General counselling

Nurses also often do outreach to:

  • support medical care
  • support home based withdrawal

WHAT COULD I EXPECT?

Sometimes appointments are still necessary with outreach services but they do all differ. Generally you can expect to get support in your community and in the places you live your everyday life.

Some outreach workers also come and hangout in areas where young people may need help.

WHO IS IT BEST FOR?

Outreach is great if there is a fair bit going on in your life besides your use of drugs or alcohol. It’s really good if you need some practical support to get stuff sorted at the same time as dealing with drugs or alcohol-especially if there aren’t many other people that can help you out in this way.

there are lots of different drug and alcohol supports that suit different people at different times
