Vocational training for young people
Youth Projects, through their Melbourne Training Options program are offering vocational preparation training for young people.
Being a Youth AOD provider means they specialize in working with a Youth AOD client group.
Here is a bit of info about the Vocational preparation courses:
- The MTO accredited job ready program has been designed to provide essential job ready skills
- Courses run fortnightly
- Courses may be able to run on site and be tailored to specific needs.
- Young people can fit into the course/make up attendance requirements as needed.
The Program specializes in the following:
- Building self-confidence to help when job searching and in everyday life
- Building confidence for employment situations
- Dealing with stressful situations
- Dealing with others and difficult situations better
- Working out goals and priorities
The core elements of Youth Projects Vocational Preparation courses are:
• How to build a skills profile and match these to potential employment opportunities
• How to build a career pathway and a career action plan
• How to research jobs and navigate the jobs market
• Preparing for and applying for work
• Creating a resume and cover letter
• Analysing job advertisements
• Preparing for interviews and handling different interview questions and scenarios/ mock interviews with real employers
• How to work safely and follow workplace safety procedures
• How to best organise your own work and daily schedule
