Short-term residential support
"Detox" is what many people associate with AOD support options. Youth withdrawal units were always designed to not only provide withdrawal support but a whole lot more.
WHAT IS SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT?
Short-term residential support is often referred to as ‘youth residential withdrawal’. This support type provides up to two weeks of safe, AOD-free, age-appropriate accommodation in a unit staffed 24/7.
WHAT INTERVENTIONS ARE OFFERED THROUGH SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT?

Medically supervised AOD withdrawal and/or pharmacotherapy

Integrated care planning (coordinated with other services)

Secondary consultation about other services
WHICH YOUNG PEOPLE ARE BEST SUITED TO SHORT-TERM RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT?
As one of the most intensive support types, it’s best suited to young people:

With high or severe AOD use
-
In physical and emotional crisis
-
With little family or community support or who don’t have access to safe, drug-free environments
-
Who have attempted community-based withdrawal or less restrictive support options.
