A cannabis based -drug, Sativex, has been trialed for use in relieving cannabis withdrawal.

Whether or not cannabis can cause physical dependence has long been a debate. This has especially been the case in the context of evaluating Youth Drug withdrawal units where the majority of young people state cannabis is their primary drug of concern. Regardless of opinion on this, young people often receive a range of medical interventions (and other) when ceasing cannabis use in supported environments. For instance it is not uncommon for benzodiazepines to be prescribed for young people experiencing anxiety as a result of ceasing cannabis use.

Until now a drug specifically designed to aid cannabis withdrawal has not been available. Check out this report about trials for a new cannabis withdrawal easing medication.  If you want to learn more, you can access the research paper here.
