Research shows the longer a young person can stay in school the more likely they are going keep connection and meet developmental milestones.

This is often a problem faced by young people in the Out of Home Care system. Many of these young people find it difficult to maintain their school with everything else that is going on around there.

The Victorian government has launched “Lookout Centres” across Victoria. These centres are there to help those young people in OOHC and those working with them. They will have access to staff that are able to help them with challenging enrolment decisions and facilitating opportunities to enable a young person to participate fully in their school life. This is a fantastic resource for youth workers, carers and schools.

If you are searching for other resources, support and guidance to help when working with young people in the Out of Home Care System, don’t forget the Out of Home Care toolbox.
