A recent study from the University of Sydney suggests that prescription of mood and behaviour disorder drugs for young people has increased substantially in recent years.

As youth workers supporting young people, almost all of us would be working with young people with mental health complaints and who are or have been prescribed various medications by GPs and other health professionals. We recommend reading this great article from the Age. It provides a balanced discussion of the issue, weighs up the risk and benefits of prescribing particular medications to young people and raises topics of importance for workers supporting and advocating young people.
